Why have populations of rare whales been crashing?

Plankton loss and warming waters are causing whales to move towards food sources. However, fishing gear and ships did not adjust as fast as the whales moved causing the leading death of North Atlantic right whales to be entangled in gear. Climate change is affecting food sources and phytoplankton production, leading to larger impacts such as a decline in the whale population. Click here to learn more.
