CLUB INFORMATION
WHAT DO WE DO?

We support our mission through hands-on experience, trainings, discussions, trips, field experiences, and events. All opportunities will be announced at our biweekly meetings and via a recap email after every meeting. Our meetings are a mix of informational sessions, career development and getting to know one another.

HOW DO I JOIN?

To join, come to any meeting or email us (mmrtcanes@gmail.com) and make sure to join us on engage! Dues cost $25 for the full academic year, and $15 for a semester. Paying dues makes you eligible to join us on our trips and ensures that you get a free t-shirt!

WHAT IS THE POINTS SYSTEM, AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Every meeting and event that you attend gets you one point.  Also, a half point can be awarded to people who cannot attend meetings, but email us in advance to let us know that they cannot make it.

Points are used to determine who goes on certain trips (some trips are points-based and others are lottery-based).

MEETINGS

Unless otherwise noted via email or social media, meetings are held biweekly on Mondays at 8pm in Cox 126. If you cannot attend a meeting for any reason, remember to email us for a half point! Meetings are only held throughout the school year.

TRIPS

Trip space is limited; members selected via points/lottery will be notified via email. Keep in mind that only undergraduate students are allowed on SAFAC-funded trips. We will inform members if trips are funded by SAFAC or not. Past trips have included whale watching in San Francisco, snorkeling with manatees in Crystal River, meeting belugas and sea otters in Atlanta, visiting marine mammal research facilities in Tampa, and so much more!

All interactions with animals are initiated by the animals themselves and are NEVER forced.
