Hawaiian Monk Seal Release

mmrtcanes

The Marine Mammal center approved the release of an endangered Hawaiian monk seal after treating it for fishing gear ingestion. When the animal arrived at the facility it was recovering well. The seal’s hook was removed while it was under anesthesia with dehooking tools to avoid a surgical procedure. The seal showed no signs of illness and due to the age and heightened risk of habituation the seal was immediately released. Click here to learn more.
