Unusual Sea Lion Deaths

Sea lions were washing up with there stomachs filled with fish and didn’t fit the patterns of marine mammal stranding at this time of year. These animals were older, and healthy looking. This time of year, it’s not common for seals to be getting sick from domoic acid from the harmful algal blooms. One hypothesis is that the animals fed on something toxic, but they cannot figure out what or why. Click here to learn more.
