A new study funded by the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative, a group of researchers from the Scripps Whale Acoustics Lab, the Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling at St. Andrews University, and the Scripps Acoustic Ecology lab have made significant progress developing acoustic monitoring tools. Using the new technology researchers can estimate how many beaked whales of a specific species swim by in each area. Acoustic monitoring tools can help us learn more about the whale's behaviors and eating patterns. Click here to learn more!
