In the past two weeks the first North Atlantic right whale mothers and calves have been seen coming into cape cod bay from their mating grounds off the southeastern U.S. coast. New boating restrictions are being set in place to protect the endangered species because almost half of the remaining population moves through the bay during this time of the year. The whales come to the bay because of its rich source of food which is good for the mothers and their newly born calves as they regain strength and grow. Click here to learn more.
